A friend just asked me what to do about lipstick stains on linen napkins. Lipstick is one of the tougher stains to get out, as it is a combination of oil and dye. Here is what I recommend. After the dinner party, I soak the napkins overnight in dishwashing liquid to remove any stains. As with any stain, the sooner you deal with it the better. Be sure the stain is out before you put the napkins in the dryer, as the heat will set the stain.
